A conference badge scanner for attendees, not exhibitors
Search for badge scanner and you get lead-retrieval systems rented to exhibitors for a few hundred dollars per show. This is the other side of the badge.
Why attendee and exhibitor scanners are different products
Exhibitor lead retrieval reads the QR code on a badge and pulls the registration record from the organiser's database. It works only at that event, only for exhibitors who paid for it, and the data lands in the exhibitor's CRM.
An attendee has no access to that database. What an attendee has is a phone camera and the badge in front of them. BusyTrip reads the printed name and company from the photo the way it reads a business card, then finds the public LinkedIn and company site so the row is useful without the QR code.

The three-day conference workflow
- Before: create a project tag with the event name. Every scan for the next three days gets it.
- During: after each conversation, photograph the badge or card and type one line about what you discussed. Twenty seconds. If the venue Wi-Fi drops, scans queue on the phone and upload later.
- After: open the Connections sheet, filter by the event tag, and follow up from your own inbox. Every row already has the LinkedIn link.
Badges are harder than cards
Badges are worn, tilted, behind lanyards and often lit from above. BusyTrip reads what it can and tells you when it cannot. A badge with only a first name and a company still becomes a row; a blurry badge gets a Retry button that keeps the photo so you can try again while the person is still in front of you.

Questions
Does it need the event's app or QR code?
No. It reads the printed text on the badge from your photo. QR codes are ignored.
Can two colleagues scan into the same sheet?
Each BusyTrip account writes to its own Drive. Share the sheet with a colleague, or copy the rows into a team sheet after the event.
What does the public lookup add?
LinkedIn, X and company website links, a short who-they-are line and an industry label, all from public sources. If nothing is found, those columns stay empty rather than guessed.
Is a business card better than a badge?
Usually. Cards have email and phone; badges rarely do. Scan whichever you have; both go into the same sheet.
